# Cancel Planet Fitness by mail

**Mail a signed cancellation letter to your home club, not head office, at least 7 days before your next billing date.** Written notice by mail is one of the three ways Planet Fitness lists. Copy the free template below, or let us mail it for you.

## How to cancel Planet Fitness by mail in 5 steps

1. **Find your home club and your dates.** Your home club is the club where you joined. Your next billing date and annual fee date are in the member portal on planetfitness.com, on your membership agreement, or in the app under My Billing Info & Balance.
2. **Fill in the template below** with your name as it appears on your agreement, your address, your membership or keytag number and your home club.
3. **Sign and date it,** and keep a copy.
4. **Mail it to your home club's street address.** Planet Fitness publishes no central cancellation address. Certified mail with return receipt lets you prove the date the club got it.
5. **File the mail receipt with your copy** and check your next statement.

## Planet Fitness cancellation letter template

Replace everything in \[brackets\]. Keep it short: the club needs to know who you are and that you want every charge to stop.

```text
[Your full name, as on your membership agreement]
[Street address]
[City, State ZIP]
[Email address]
[Date]
Planet Fitness, [home club name] home club
[Home club street address]
[City, State ZIP]
Subject: Membership cancellation – [your full name], membership no. [number]
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to cancel my Planet Fitness membership. Please stop all further charges, including monthly dues and the annual fee, end any direct debit or card authorization, and remove any stored payment methods from my account.
Please confirm the cancellation in writing to [email address].
Sincerely,
[Signature]
[Printed name]
```

## Where to mail it

To your home club. Planet Fitness says to “send written notification via mail to your home club”. Clubs are independently owned and operated, so the street address is your own club's. The head office address you may find online, 4 Liberty Ln W, Hampton, NH 03842, is not the address Planet Fitness gives for cancellations.

## When to mail it

Planet Fitness needs your cancellation at least 7 days before your next billing date to stop that charge, and at least 7 days before your annual fee date to stop the $49 annual fee. It does not say whether the 7 days count from the day you post the letter or the day the club receives it, so mail it early.

## Certified mail or regular mail?

Planet Fitness does not require certified mail. It is still the safer choice: USPS Certified Mail with a return receipt is your proof of delivery and of the date the club received your notice. Some state laws require certified mail for certain cancellations; see [gym cancellation laws by state](https://planetfitnesscancellation.com/state-laws).

## Questions people ask

### Can I email my Planet Fitness cancellation instead?

Email is not one of the three ways Planet Fitness lists for US members: a letter mailed to your home club, a visit to your home club, or the online member portal.

### What should a Planet Fitness cancellation letter include?

Planet Fitness publishes no required wording. Your name as it appears on your membership agreement, your membership or keytag number, your home club, the date and your signature help the club match the letter to your account.

### Will Planet Fitness confirm my cancellation?

Its FAQ does not promise a written confirmation. Ask for one in your letter, as the template does, and keep your certified mail receipt as proof of the date the club received it.
